Week commencing 13th July

Well done everyone for all your hard work with home schooling! We understand it has been difficult and times and are very appreciative of all your efforts. We urge you to continue with the home schooling in this final week.

We would like you to continue with the phonics scheme this week. Miss Plimmer’s, Miss Warsop’s and Mrs Hollingsworth’s groups should carry on with the Reception learning for the week beginning 22nd June.

Miss Jones’ and Mrs Johnson’s groups should continue with the Reception tab from the 18th May.

Mrs Towner’s group should follow the Year 1 tab for the 22nd June.

We have attached the Oxford reading link below also to continue reading as much as possible.

This week’s maths is based on the story ‘how many legs’. It has some really nice sorting and grouping activities to have a go at and also activities consolidating ‘more and less than’ concepts using tens frames. We have attached the story on Youtube too.

We have also attached the link to the maths games site ‘top marks’ for a fun way to practice some skills.

This week we would like you to focus on the transition from Reception to Year 1. The Cautious caterpillar story is attached and some activities that refer to the story to help aid discussion and hopefully ease any anxieties about starting Year 1.

Thank you for being a wonderful Reception Year group. We are very sad that we didn’t get to finish the year with you. Have a fantastic summer break. We will come and see you all when you are in year 1. Sending you all big virtual hugs.

We would like you to continue with the phonics scheme this week.

This weeks maths is based on the story ‘ The Dinosaur that pooped a planet’. It has some lovely activities including; using shapes to make a rocket, using junk modelling to make your own rocket and discussing 3D shapes and enforces pattern and number. We have attached the link for the story on Youtube below and some songs to help practice skills such as counting in 5’s.

This week’s wider curriculum focuses on sports as our children will be missing out on sports day at school. We feel it would be a nice opportunity to introduce some games and races in the garden or the park and also introduce children to the Olympics. We have attached some power points and some activity ideas as well as some sports day certificates.

This week’s maths is ‘Oliver’s vegetables’. This is a lovely book and focuses on quantities and more and less. It also lends itself well to recapping healthy eating and planting your own vegetables! We have attached the link for the story on Youtube below and some songs to help practice skills such as counting in 2’s.

This week’s wider curriculum focuses on Summer. Hopefully we will experience some hot weather again soon and need to ensure we are enjoying it safely. We would like you to look at the changes from spring to summer and also how to stay safe. We have attached a few different power points and activities below.

This week’s book for Maths is Zog. This is a fantastic story and we hope you enjoy the activities on adding, subtracting, pattern and size. We have attached the link for the story on Youtube below and some songs to help practice skills such as doubling.

We would like you to continue with the phonics scheme this week.

Miss Plimmer’s, Miss Warsop’s and Mrs Hollingsworth’s groups should carry on with the Reception learning for the week beginning 25th May.

Miss Jones’ and Mrs Johnson’s groups should follow the learning to blend tab for the 25th May.

Mrs Towner’s group should follow the Year 1 tab for the 25th May.

For those who want an extra phase 5 activity have a go at the workbook below in your journals.

We urge you to continue reading with your child and have included the Oxford reading link below. Reading just 10 minutes each day really will help your child progress and is extremely valuable!

This week’s book for maths is ‘Princess mirror Belle’ . There are some lovely activities all about 3D shapes and sorting. We have added the link for the story on youtube too.

For our wider curriculum this week we would like you to look at recycling. Lot’s of you are out and about and may have noticed busy areas getting a bit messy! This would be a good opportunity to do some litter picking and talk about how we look after our environment. We have attached ‘The messy Magpie’ story on Youtube and also included some recycling activities to have a look at.

We hope you all had a good half term and enjoyed the sunshine! 🙂

Phase 5 extra challenge activities.

Maths this week will be a range of activities following the story ‘Snail and the whale’. We have included a link to the story if you haven’t got the book at home.

This week we would like you to look at what makes you unique. The power point offers good discussion points and some nice activities. You may wish to do some art work or sentence writing about what makes you unique. We would love to see photos!

We would also like to wish a happy birthday to the following children turning 5 in June: Thomas L, Poppy G, Lara, Violet, Freddie, Elodie, Tilly-Blue and Sofia- Rose.
