Settling in
Our first few weeks back to Nursery have been all about ensuring that the children settle in, understand the rules and routines and begin to establish secure relationships with the adults and their peers.
Well done to all our children for settling so well.
Beach day

As part of our topic on transport the children in Nursery walked to the school entrance, on Forfield road, and completed a survey of the different kind of vehicles that drive past our school.
They saw cars, buses, lorries, trucks, motorbikes and bicycle’s.
In nursery we have been looking at Minibeasts. We have been learning about the different kinds and exploring where they live.
Our Minibeast Hunt
In the run up to the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic games, 62 Coventry primary, secondary and special educational needs schools will be participating in a torch relay, the Flame of Friendship, leaving Coventry Cathedral on Thursday 22nd February and finishing on the University of Warwick campus on Monday 8th July. https://warwick.ac.uk/wie/flame_of_friendship/
The torch is bespoke to this event, designed especially for this event, designed as part of a competition in which more than 2000 Coventry pupils took part. The winning design was submitted by a pupil from Finham Park School and has subsequently been redeveloped at WMG, on the University of Warwick campus.

On Wednesday 12th June, it was Coundon Primary’s turn to receive the Flame of Friendship. Sherbourne Fields travelled to our school to deliver it to us. They were greeted by the whole of Coundon during a warm and welcoming lap of the school grounds, where we clapped, cheered and waved scarves, flags or banners for them. The children really enjoyed themselves.
Then on Thursday 13th June, we had the honour of delivering the Flame of Friendship onto Allesley Primary School. The children that took place in the delivery of the torch showed great pride in being chosen and were great representatives for our school. A special thanks needs to go to Miss Mower and Miss Ferris, for agreeing to walk with them all the way!
For our topic All About Me we looked at photographs of ourselves as babies and discussed how we had changed.
We compared height and talked about who was the tallest and who was the shortest.
we sang songs about our bodies and explored moving our bodies in different ways.
In Nursery we have been learning the names and properties of 2d shapes. We have been using shapes to create pictures and models and have been on a shape walk.
Nursery have been learning all about different people who help us.
The Dentist
We have learnt all about how to clean our teeth and why it is important.
