I am incredibly proud to be Headteacher at such a great school where children, staff, governors and parents work extremely hard and have high expectations of one another.
Our school motto ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’ is the foundation for our caring and nurturing ethos, we respect and learn from one another. Coundon is a happy school and we believe we achieve this by providing a safe and secure environment in which our children grow and learn in confidence.
The dedicated team at Coundon are committed to providing high quality teaching and learning, achieved through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise to ensure that all of our students reach their full potential regardless of their different starting points.
This, together with a full exciting curriculum inspires our dedication to help children discover their talents. We are very much about unlocking the ‘whole’ child and offer a range of musical, dramatic, art and sporting opportunities. We are committed to making learning fun, purposeful and creative. Our children are excited to learn and a main characteristic for learning is to help our children to build independence and resilience by developing a ‘growth’ mind-set.
Outside, the school has an ‘Astro-Turf’ pitch, a school garden containing raised beds, a chicken coop, a forest school area, hard surface playgrounds, a trim trail and a large grassed area incorporating football pitches and a running track in the summer. We even have our own dog ‘Winnie.’ The experience of the outdoors, nature and animals have been proven to provide considerable social and emotional benefits, as well as opportunities for hands-on-reality based learning to supplement the children’s curriculum
You will find a friendly, caring and purposeful school at Coundon where relationships are built on mutual respect and where all families from the local and wider community are welcomed.
