On Monday 21st October, Miss Valentine and Mrs Gray took a squad of 8 girls from years 3 and 4 (who play for Mr Boardly’s girls football club) to take part in some 6 side fixtures.
Upon arrival, we went into the sports hall, where we were greeted by the organisers of Coventry School Games and 4 guest speakers.
Kare Adenegan – GB Paralympian
Marianne Botterill – Sky Blues in the Community coach and community cohesion manager
Chelsie Giles – Team GB Judo
Amelie Perkins – Team GB Under 19 Water Polo and past School Games Coventry West attendee.
These athletes were here to discuss their journeys as women in sport and to answer any questions any of the girls had.
After that, we headed out to the pitches where COACH valentine warmed up the girls with some drills and then we played 3 of the 27 schools that were taking place. Our team have only played together on one occasion prior to the day, despite this, they worked really well as a team!
The scores were as follows:
1-1 (Coundon v stoke)
2-0 loss (courthouse green V Coundon)
1-0 win (Coundon V southfields)
Well done girls for representing the school so well. You really upheld all of our school values.
Mrs Gray
