This week the children will be having phonics with their class Teachers. This is due to year 6 SATs. They will be having a speed sounds lesson and completing comprehension exercises where the children read the sentences and complete the pictures to demonstrate their understanding. They will be completing hold a sentence activities using words containing the sounds from this week, with the more able writing a more complex sentence. Continue to practise the letter sounds daily before your child reads and encourage them to use the SF, FT, RTW strategies to work out unfamiliar words. We have attached some links to home learning videos for your child to watch at home. There will be no online work this week but we will be sending a book home for your child to read.

In maths this week we will be learning how to add more. We will continue to learn how to order numbers to 20 to support this. We will be using first, then , now stories to understand the process of adding. How many are there? How many more are joining them? How many do we have now? We will be using tens frames to support our learning. We will learn what happens when different amounts are added to a group. Can you make your own first, then, now stories? Count out a group of objects (less than 10 to start) and add more to the group? How many do you have now?
