In phonics this week, we will be recapping the phonemes we have previously learned – s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, e, u. We will also be segmenting and blending words that have the digraph ‘ck’ in them e.g. ‘sock’ ‘deck’ ‘pick’. Our new learning will focus on the phoneme, ‘r’. We have also introduced the children to some tricky words, such as, ‘the’ and ‘I’. The children love the ‘Tricky Words’ song on YouTube! Try and play it to them at home to reinforce their understanding.

In Maths this week, we are focusing on the numbers 4 and 5. The children will be learning about how we can make 4 and 5 in different ways. We will also be focusing on number formation and having lots of practise on how to write the numbers. Try asking your children whether they can find 4 of their favourite toys at home? Count them out with them.

In the wider curriculum, we are introducing the reasons why we celebrate Christmas and discussing the nativity story with the children. We will also be talking about day and night, and different routines we have when it is daytime and when it is nighttime.

Please remember you can send in any videos and photographs of the learning your children do at home, to the class email addresses.
