In maths this week, we will be continuing our learning of numbers up to 20. We will be focusing on ordering numbers and recognising when there is a number missing. On Friday, we will be looking at capacity and using containers to identify which one holds more, using cubes. The children will use ten frames, to identify how many cubes each container is holding. We will also be playing various maths games, such as bingo and ‘What’s the missing number?’.
In phonics this week, we will be reviewing our learning of the sounds ‘air’, ‘ure’, ‘er’, ‘ee’, ‘ai’ and ‘igh’. We will also be developing their knowledge of tricky words and how to read and write them. Children will be focusing on implementing their phonic knowledge to help them read and write words and sentences. We will also be creating a shared write in the theme of superheroes, this will help the children use their phonics to write a sentence about the superhero they have created.
In the wider curriculum, we will be continuing the theme of superheroes. We will be focusing on how the children can be superheroes and what it takes to make super choices, inside and outside of the classroom. We will be creating a class super hero, which the children will decide what they will wear and what super powers they may have. On Friday 30th April, we will be celebrating our superhero theme by asking the children to come into school dressed up as a superhero. Remember, this does not need to be a shop bought costume, this can be anything that represents why the children are special and super.
Have a super week!
