In phonics this week, we will be recapping the phonemes we have previously learned – s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k. We will also be recapping the diagraph (two letters one sound) ck. Our new learning will focus on the phonemes, ‘e’ and ‘u’. We will be learning how to read and write using these phonemes. Try giving your children simple instructions by segmenting words e.g. “S-i-t down.”, “Time for b-e-d.”
In Maths this week, we are learning about one-sided and three-sided shapes and how we use positional language. Children will be using circles and triangles to create their own pictures. Play ‘Simon Says’ at home and ask the children to put their hands on top, below, in front, behind etc. Can they follow the instructions?
In the wider curriculum, we will be looking at Diwalli, Remembrance Day and Children in Need. In Reception, we will doing a one minute silence at 11am, to think about all the courageous members of the armed forces that gave their life during the First World War. Don’t forget to dress your children in their comfy PJs on Friday, for Children in Need! All children taking part will need to bring £1 donation.
Remember to keep reading and practising the letter sounds we have been learning in school.
